- Statement by Marija Kolak, President of the National Association of German Cooperative Banks (BVR), on the outcome of the US presidential election:
"The election of Joe Biden as the new president of the USA offers the chance of a change in policy direction. A central goal should be to heal the political divisions within society and return to an economic policy based on long-term growth. We welcome Biden’s announcement that he intends to rejoin the Paris climate agreement and the World Health Organization. This will enable greater progress to be made on climate change and fighting the pandemic. Our hope is that under Biden, US trade policy will become less protectionist. This would give an important boost to the global economy and also to German exporters."
